A Texas grand jury indicts ICE officer Mario Alberto Morales on an aggravated assault charge over the Oct. 10 vehicle strike that injured Miguel Parra Hernandez in Houston
A Texas grand jury on Friday indicted ICE officer Mario Alberto Morales on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare announced. Prosecutors say Morales struck Miguel Parra Hernandez with his vehicle on Oct. 10 in Houston while Parra Hernandez was on foot. ICE has said Parra Hernandez ran in front of the vehicle and denies that the officer struck him on purpose. Parra Hernandez, who was injured, has lived in the U.S. for more than 30 years without legal status. ICE had said it was looking for another man, Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, whose daughter says he died in 2017.
